Disney Details – Swan and Dolphin

As many of you know from reading this blog. Norwood and I spend a lot of time at the Swan and Dolphin… mainly because of Kimonos… we are really big fans. To let you know just how much time we spend there our waiters know us and our regular meal and drinks when we go in. So it may not be a surprise when I tell you that my favorite Disney Hotel Detail comes from the Swan and Dolphin…

Swan (2)

Look at that fantastic chandelier! I love the colors the delicate glass. This wonderful piece of art can be found in the lobby in front of Il Mulino New York Trattoria (and just down the hall of Kimonos by the way). When it begins to get dark it is wonderful to sit with a cup of coffee in the lobby and look up at the glass. It gives a soft glow to the comfortable lobby that has tables and chairs and comfy lounge chairs (presumably for people who are waiting to get into the very popular Il Mulino New York Trattoria). And if you like coffee there is a wonderful little stand open during the day right there in that same lobby. When you tire of looking at the lovely glass chandelier there are three restaurants right there to choose from, Il Mulino New York Trattoria, Kimonos and Garden Grove (favorite of the little ones and character seekers).

Hope you have had a wonderful week exploring some of my favorite details from Disney World. Have a magical weekend!

Disney Details- Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is another place that is fantastic for discovering Disney Details. I mean take the Streets of America for example, it is all about the details there. My favorite detail however does not come from the Streets of America… just too many to choose from, but instead from inside my favorite Hollywood Studios eatery… the Brown Derby.

Character Drawings in Brown Derby

These drawings are all over the Brown Derby. My sister and I had a fantastic time trying to see if we recognized any of the people in the photos. I have to admit I did not know many. But just walking around the restaurant with camera in hand (you would be surprised at how many people do this, I thought I was the only weird one) and taking photos of the drawings and saying out loud who you think it is and see how many others agree or disagree. If you can name any of the characters in this photos leave a comment. Let’s see how many you can get. I can tell you right now that in this photo I am not really sure about any of them.

Tomorrow we visit the resorts and I will share my favorite Disney Detail.

Disney Details- Magic Kingdom

One of my favorite rides at Magic Kingdom is the Haunted Mansion, partly because it is neat to see the ghosts and partly because Norwood likes the ride so much. It has been his favorite since he was a little boy. For many photographers (this one included) it is difficult to get photos of the details of the Haunted Mansion, especially inside. But there are so many details outside that are a little easier and fun to get. Here is my favorite…

Haunted Mansion (3)

This little haunted dog was found on the bench that is outside the exit across from the pet cemetery. It is the end of the bench arm. I had never noticed this before always walking by the same bench on our way out of the ride and then one day I stopped dead in my tracks and turned to get as close to it as a could so I could take a picture of it. While I was finding the best angle for the small ornament on the bench arm I noticed I had created a little crowd around me also noticing the end of the bench for the first time.

Tomorrow I will show you my favorite Disney Detail from Hollywood Studios.

Disney Details- Epcot

Epcot is a detail hunter’s paradise. There are so many little things to find in both Futureworld and in the World Showcase. My favorite place to hunt for details is in the World Showcase. Picking out my favorite detail for this week was really difficult I could put up tons of albums of all the Disney Details I have taken photographs of and find to be my favorites. But I have narrowed it down to one that I found early in the summer last year….

blue bottles

After I saw this blue glass bottle tree I wanted one for my own yard. It is stunning and when the light hits it look at there are great shadows on the sidewalk. So if you have not seen this yourself you are probably asking by now where to find it. Well in between France and Morocco there is a wonderful little getaway spot located next to a play ground. In the getaway spot there are many glass sculptures (this area may change depending on the special event for example during the International Food and Wine Festival Louisiana can be found near here. And, although I have not yet found it I am told there is a Hidden Mickey somewhere in the area… just look down.

Tomorrow I will share my favorite Disney Detail from Magic Kingdom.

Disney Details – Animal Kingdom

Last week I talked about the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade at Magic Kingdom. Looking back I realize there are so many little details that made that parade beautiful, the costumes for instance. And while looking back through the photos of the colorful costumes from the new Magic Kingdom parade I started looking through my many Disney World photo albums and realized that there are so many photos I have yet to share with you here on Mouse Beat and many of them are of the details that make Disney World a wonderfully unique place. So I thought this week I would share with you photos of Disney Details and tell you the details of how I found that wonderful little detail.

First up this week is Animal Kingdom…

frog (4)

This little frog was found on a planter in the trees. It is hardly noticeable if you are not looking for it. I found along with several other frog planters near the gates to Africa. Once you past the Island Mercantile start looking in the trees on the left and you will not only find frogs but other little treasures as well.

Tomorrow my favorite Disney detail found in Epcot.
