Disney’s Fort Wilderness Lodge and Campground

Wilderness Lodge

All week long I have told you about my top five favorite Disney Hotels but I have saved the best for last. Earlier this week I told you about how Norwood and I moved into a fifth wheel. Late last year we started to look into ways in which we could stay at Disney World. Remember I told you about Disney Vacation Club and throughout the last nine months I have told you about the hotels we have stayed at. Well both are fantastic options for literally living at Disney World but with our fur baby Maverick DVC is not an option since he cannot stay at the hotels with us but we found a way that we can literally live at Disney World and today I will tell you about Fort Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Campground. The only place on Disney property (besides the kennels) that is truly dog friendly is Fort Wilderness Campground and here are my top five reasons why you will be seeing my family spending a lot of time there…

1.Fur baby friendly! Finally Maverick will get to see Disney World from the comfort of his own home.

2.You can bring your home with you to Disney World! Everything you want right there with you.

3.Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue… dinner and a great show. Even if you are not staying at Fort Wilderness Campground you should make plans to see this show. Funny!

4.Carriage Rides around the park… Norwood and I took one during the week of Christmas and it was so much fun. Also as I mentioned yesterday in my list of the Contemporary the boat ride from the Contemporary to Fort Wilderness Lodge and Campground is a nice one.

5.The Christmas Decorations. The RVers go all out at Fort Wilderness Campground and there is nothing more fun than walking around seeing the lights and the Disney themed decorations.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

The Contemporary

Oh what fun I have had this week telling you about my favorite Disney Hotels. Next up is Disney’s Contemporary Resort. I first discovered this hotel during Mouse Fest 101 and Norwood and I like it so much that we head over there to eat, to go Mickey’s Pin Trading Nights and as a place to stay when we want to spend some time at Magic Kingdom. Here are my top five reasons why I would stay there again…

1.The Walkway to Magic Kingdom. It was not until we spent more time at Magic Kingdom that I discovered you can actually walk to Magic Kingdom. For years I thought you could only reach the Magic Kingdom by monorail or boat. Sometimes Norwood and I will park at Magic Kingdom and walk the walkway around the Magic Kingdom resorts.

2.The California Grill! Yum! Watching fireworks atop the Contemporary while eating an awesome meal what could be better!

3.Great coffee! There is a little place inside the Contemporary Convention Center that serves great coffee (yes actual coffee).

4.The Convention Center. Most months Mickey’s Pin trading night is hosted in the Contemporary Ballrooms so I have found myself hanging out in their very large convention center.

5.The boat from the Contemporary to Fort Wilderness Lodge and Campground. A little smaller boat than the normal ferries it makes for a romantic trip around the lagoon.

Disney Hotels 2008

I know we live just down the street from Disney but there is something absolutely magical about staying on Disney property all day and all night. Norwood and I tried a few resorts last year and we liked each one we tried in different ways. To cap off the five favorite memories of Disney World 2008 I thought I would list some of my favorite moments while staying at a Disney Resort.

5: Eating at Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge)… Yum! We liked it so much that we ate there for our Christmas Eve dinner.

4: Watching Norwood ride Air Trix at the Caribbean Beach Resort…

3: Watching the kids have tons of fun on all the neat “larger than life” things at the All Star Resorts…

2: Stumbling onto my first pin trading night at the Contemporary…

And my favorite moment while at a Disney Hotel/Resort of 2008 is….

1: Getting my first picture with Minnie Mouse at Disney Contemporary Resort!

So many great memories of Disney World at 2008. Seven months of Disney every week was really awesome. I look forward to seven more! Have a magical weekend!
