Festival of the Lion King

Festival of the Lion King (75)

Over all our visits to Animal Kingdom we had not yet been inside Camp Minnie Mickey. Each time we visited Norwood’s favorite park we had a routine… head straight to Africa see what kind of wait there is at Kilimanjaro Safaris, get a fast pass if more than twenty minutes then head on over to Asia and spend the rest of our time. Pretty much for us Animal Kingdom consisted of Africa (mainly the Kilimanjaro Safaris) and Asia. Well last week on our venture over to Camp Minnie Mickey to see The Festival of the Lion King. As we stood in line outside the theatre area and then later outside the theatre doors Norwood and I wondered exactly what we would see behind those elusive doors. We listened to the conversations around us trying to hear if anyone else knew what to expect. That day many of the people around us had no idea what was waiting inside for us all they knew was everyone they mentioned “The Festival of Lion King” they were vehemently told “Do not miss it!” So we waited becoming more and more excited about what we were about to experience.

Wow! The show is not what we expected and I must join that passionate group that tells you “Do not miss it!” I cannot believe that all the times we have hung out at Animal Kingdom we have missed it. By now I am sure that some of my readers are yelling at their screens “Well what is it!”

It is an amazing show that includes singing, acrobats, the Lion King characters such as Timon, Pumba and Simba and so much more. Here are a couple of my favorite moments from the show…

It is definitely a show that you will want to make time for on your next visit to Animal Kingdom. I know for Norwood and I it is now on our regular list of things to do while at Animal Kingdom. To make sure that you fit it into your Animal Kingdom routine here are I few tips…

1.No matter where you sit, it is a good seat but it is best to get there early and get settled in. They will let you into the direct waiting area about 20 minutes before the show.

2.This is one of the few Disney shows that lets you take flash photography! But they do not let you use exterior lights on your video cameras. So bring those camera and snap those great shots.

3.Go more than once, there is so much going on that it is impossible to take it all in with only one visit.
