All Star Resorts –Review

touchdown

Resort Location:
ASR is located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park area. If you go towards the Animal Kingdom Theme Park Area you will begin to see signs for All Star Resorts. There are three themed All Star Resorts, Music, Movies and Sports. All three are located on the same campus and you will enter through the same security gate to reach all three.

Resort Recreation:
Pools, very very cool pools! All the resorts have a pool that is centered around the theme of the area that they are in. For example in the Movies section of the All Star resorts there is a Mighty Ducks Section and here is their pool…

Very cool! You definitely cannot miss the Disney at the All Star Resorts! As far as recreation there are pool games, a dance party and movies each night by the Calypso pool in the Music Resort (this is the only pool that hosts activities- you can attend the activities even if you are a guest at one of the other All Star Resorts). And of course they have the standard arcade and playgrounds you can find at other level resorts.

Resort Dining:
At each resort there is a food court (stay tuned for my review tomorrow of our experiences eating at the food courts). They have a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. They also offer snacks and to go menu. You can also have a pizza delivered to your room.

Resort Rooms:
I read all the reviews I could find on the web before we went and the majority of them were saying that the rooms were very small and not nice. Norwood and I were shocked when we opened the door to our room…

The All Star rooms are very nice! They are just a little bit smaller than the standard rooms at the moderate and deluxe resorts (where we noticed it the most was in the sink area, just one instead of double sinks). There is no little fridge but other than that the room was very comfortable. The furniture actually made the room feel very spacious (at Animal Kingdom the furniture was a bit large for the room and in the table area it felt crowded).

Resort Pictures from our stay:
Below are just a couple of pictures from our stay at ASR…

Our Impressions of ASR:
We were taken off guard at the security gate when they only wanted to see an ID and did not check the list for our name like security had done at the Moderate and Deluxe resort. When we asked the very friendly security why that was she looked at us a little shocked and said “We have 6,000 rooms here that is way too many names to look through!” 6,000 rooms! All Star resorts are a very large resort. Each little section of each Music, Movies or Sports feels however like your own little themed resort. Surprisingly (considering that the largest population there were teenagers) it was quite in our room.

We only truly have one complaint about the resort and you can find out more about that tomorrow with my Food Court review.

We both recommend this resort to families with children, not so much to young couples on a romantic getaway. The kids (and there were many) at this resort were having a blast!
